Late Post VI: New Year's Eve
This is the last of the late posts! It took me halfway through February to finally finish posting some of the last photographs I took for 2014. But I'm glad I found the time and the energy to do it. Way to go for proving to myself that work doesn't necessarily have to get in the way of doing what I like to do best!
No fireworks pictures this year unfortunately. I have to blame a broken tripod and a slow camera for that. My trusty Manfrotto tripod, which I bought together with one of my first DSLRs some four years ago, has finally decided to throw in the towel. I will miss you, Manfrotto! We've travelled the world together and seen many wonderful places. You helped me take wonderful motion blur photos and cityscapes.
And the other reason why there are no fireworks photos is also the reason why I have no camera again at the time of this writing. I opted for an entry level camera and a good piece of glass and while the combination takes fantastic photographs most of the time, taking photographs like fireworks and long exposure shots proved to be its undoing. So I decided to sell it, and am now saving up for a new model. Stay tuned for that!
Our New Year's Eve celebrations were, like the Christmas eve celebration that preceded it, also very simple. Just the family, having a nice dinner, drinking champagne and staying up until midnight to welcome 2015 and go outside to light some fireworks. Everyone had a blast, save for the cats, who were so terrified of the noise that they hid themselves everywhere, including empty beer boxes.
I'll wrap up 2014 in another post. I'm going into my second year in the Philippines now after deciding to leave Norway it has been a challenging year and a half. 2015 has started and it promises to be a great year. I'm excited to experience the adventures and challenges that lie in waiting.
