February is turning out to be...a crappy month!
Someone at work has been carrying some extremely potent germs!
I make an effort to get a flu shot every year, and since I started getting them I haven't had the flu since 2007. It was a hat trick that was bound to end sooner or later.
I had to call off work during my weekend shift, which was bad, because it means I will need to compensate for the absence by working on one of my off days. So here I am, back in Angeles City. The fever has gone down, thank goodness, but I still have this pain in my chest, especially when I am laughing, and I am still a bit nauseous and my appetite still isn't back to normal (well that's not such bad thing).
It was a horrible two days, though. The feeling that every muscle, every bone in your body is being poked with a sharp object, the fever so high I was getting hallucinations. The throwing up. No wonder I vowed to get flu shots every year since I got the flu back in 2007. I have never felt so crappy!
Fortunately I am back on the recovery track, and now I can even stare at the screen for a longer period of time and actually write something before my stomach starts to hurl. Hopefully by tomorrow I will feel much better, and can actually start to enjoy my day off and not just spend it lying in bed when the weather outside is so nice and sunny.
It's times like these where I miss working in Norway. There you can be sick and know that the government has your back and you won't lose any of your pay. And it's a perfectly sane investment. Force people to come back prematurely after an illness, like they do here in the Philippines, and you risk infecting people around you, and make even more people sick.
Here's hoping I am back to my old self before the weekend starts (fingers crossed).
