Oslo's Ground Zero
Yesterday before the rose procession in honor of last Friday's terrorist attacks, I was able to spend a few minutes to take some pictures before meeting my colleagues (we went to the procession together). I was finally able to get a glimpse of ground zero, where the bomb was detonated. Although most of the debris and dirt have already been cleared, the sight of the abandoned buildings with their shattered windows can still give one the goosebumps.
Four days have passed and I am amazed at the pace of recovery the city is showing. The people, of course, are still in a state of shock and mourning. But like it or not, life really must go on.
July will be over in a few days and so is the summer season. Autumn is in the horizon. The days will be shorter, the temperatures cooler, and we will be seeing more rainy and gloomy weather in the days ahead. But I suppose the end of this very turbulent summer will also come as a blessing to many, as it will mark the start of a new season, and hopefully a fresh start.
