The first big test!
This is it! The first big test of my skills as a photographer. You bet I was nervous and shaking as I clicked the "participate" button!
The Oslo Photo Marathon is a yearly event wherein participants have to take 12 pictures of 12 topics in 12 hours. The photographs cannot in any way be digitally enhanced or altered. So in this competition it is all about having your camera skills in check and having a good eye for lighting and composition. This is a famous competition, and a lot of the city's most promising and talented photographers are featured. Last year's winner has already launched her first one-man (or woman) exhibit.
I was looking at last year's topics, and some of them are downright tricky! It is very much open to interpretation though, so mostly anything goes. A lot of them are very Norwegian, mostly including quotations from famous Norwegian writers. You can check out the marathon's web site here.
I have to be honest though. I have no plans of winning this event. I just want to use it as a stepping stone to showcase my work. At the same time, it would be a good practice for me to take GOOD pictures while under a bit of pressure.
One camera. 12 photographs. 12 hours. Sounds tiring! But I am sure it will be a rich and rewarding experience. Win or lose, this is my passion in photography moving forward!
