THE ARRIVAL!
Today it finally happened!
With my bank announcing a 2-day off time due to upgrades and supplies of the 1D Mark IV dwindling as it is being picked up by numerous professionals due to the 1DX shortage (or absence), I knew I had to take a chance.
It was now or never.
JapanPhoto was able to do two things which Fotovideo couldn't: answer my e-mails and source out on of the few brand new Canon EOS 1D Mark IV's available. I came at the store as soon as I got off from work to pick it up.
The first time I picked up the unit in my hands I knew I didn't just make a leap of faith. This was destiny. This was destined to be MY camera.
Well there is really nothing I can say other than the build quality, which is nothing like I have ever experienced before. It is insanely solid with absolutely no creaking and no loose parts inside. And the weight was also quite pleasant: it is just slightly heavier than the 5D Mark III or the 7D when I was playing with these units at the store.
Of course buying the camera prematurely (today instead of Thursday) meant that I didn't have the money to purchase the lenses yet. At least I won't have to wait long. I need the next two days to learn to use this camera. It's one complicated instrument! I have to go through a 300-page manual, a white paper for tweaking the AF and some instructional videos. But I plan to already get some test shots come Thursday.
