Time to get creative!
I just had to take a deep breathe, close my eyes, swipe my debit card, and exhale. Done. After several weeks of browsing through website after website of reviews, YouTube videos, magazine articles and the like, I finally bit the bullet and bought my second dSLR. Why, oh why, does it always take me AGES to make buying decisions like these?
Well I was finally able to narrow it down to two choices , the Canon EOS 550D or Nikon D90. The Nikon was a bit outdated. The Canon was OK, but the kit lens received really bad reviews, meaning that I would eventually have to replace it right away if I did decide to purchase the camera, and blow up my budget even more. I even considered the new Sony SLTs, but in the end all the electronic advancements seemed to be just hype, and removed a lot of the joys of traditional photography. The Leica M9 (see previous post) was just far too expensive to be an option. If I become a professional, acclaimed photographer I will probably take it into consideration, but not now.
I was about to give up hope, when I came across reviews of the new Pentax K-r. All the reviews were positive, and one of the biggest pluses: the camera was available in other colors than just the plain black box. My local dealer also had a promotion: get a free Pentax I-10 compact camera when you purchase either a K-r or a K-5 (too expensive for me at the moment). So the decision was clear. I was already yearning for a Pentax K-7 since last year, so getting the K-r now (and saving money to buy at least one of those gorgeous Pentax Limited prime lenses).
So, to make the long story short, here it is: the apple of my eyes. The instrument that will be used for self-reflection and expression. My brand new, white Pentax K-r.

Well I am not going to give a full run-down of the specs as this is not a photography equipment blog. What I can say though, is this: if you really want to get more creative with your photography, get a dSLR. They market the Pentax K-r for beginners. But after browsing through the multitude of possibilities this gorgeous thing has to offer, I predict that it will take years before I can outgrow this camera. I just hope I can harness its full potential, and take pictures that are really worth keeping.
