Northeastern Spain 2011
Back again after a long hiatus! So much has happened in my life after my berth as a photojournalist in Stockholm. Events which, unfortunately, made me put my dreams of having a career in photography on temporary hold. September came with lots of work to do, a LOT of bad weather and on, the bright side, dating! I've been dating and we've been going steady now for two months.
After that long break it was nice to take out my (new) camera and put my photographic skills to the test once again. And what better way to do it than during my long-overdue vacation. Yes! After working almost constantly for 10 months I was finally able to take a 2 week vacation. And this year's destination was, although not that exotic, nonetheless worthwhile: northeastern Spain and the towns of Tarragona, Salou, Cambrils, and a quick tour of the vibrant capital of Catalonia: Barcelona. I've visited these towns before. But it was nice to see them again, this time armed with a good camera and the photographic skills to make sure that I came back home with photographs that I would be proud to show to people.
Many mornings and early afternoons were spent on the beach soaking up the rays, and you guessed it. I did not dare take the camera with me for fear of sand getting inside and scratching the sensor. I was able to take some nice evening photos of the coastline though. The rest of the vacation was spent on day trips, and many of those trips went to the nearest city, Tarragona, as well as the wine and cava capital of Spain: Vilafranca del Penedes. There we went to the Torres winery to see how all this great Spanish red wine was made. All in all it was a pleasant mix of relaxation, while at the same time trying to get in as much of the culture and gastronomy as possible.
Those two weeks came and went. Time really flies when you are having fun. And the pictures I came back home with hopefully reveals how much fun I had and how much I really enjoyed my vacation. I love Spain. It was the one of the first countries I lived in when I came to Europe, and I hope I will be able to settle there again in the near future. You just can't go wrong living in the country where the sun shines almost all year round!
