Autumn 2011
It's that time of the year once again. The summer is unfortunately over (and what a summer it has been). The temperature drops at a rather rapid pace and the leaves start to turn a purplish golden yellow before they finally fall down to the earth, lifeless, awaiting the arrival of the first snowfall.
Autumn has never been my favorite season (I'm more of a summer guy). But the foliage is something you really can look forward to. It brings about a sort of melancholy, a signal that another year is alomost over, and a perfect time to reflect on what we did this year, the things we have experienced, and the coming of a new year (and hopefully new chances) in just a few months time.
Looking back I definitely can say that the summer of 2011 has "trumped" many of the summers before it. Of course for some the summer of 2011 will be remembered as a tragedy: the terrorist attacks in Oslo on the 22nd of July will forever be engraved in the hearts and minds of us all. But there were many positive things that have happened as well. I got another shot at love this summer, and we are still going strong (almost 4 months and counting!). This summer I finally got the chance to work as a photojournalist in Sweden, and I can say with certainty that my work has improved, and will keep on improving as I take more photographs.
So let the leaves turn golden yellow. Let the temperatures drop. Let the winter begin. This year I am determined to not let the autumn bring me down. I intend to let this autumn bring me hope: for a better life, new chances to right the wrongs I have done, and for more fun adventures!
