Post-Easter Updates (Part 1)
We will be able to look back at April 2019 and remember it as the most exciting April in by far many years! So much has happened in the last two weeks that I don't even know where to begin! Some good, some bad, some sad, some downright scary stuff.
I wish I could say that during the 8 days that I was off work that I was able to rest and recharge my batteries. But nothing could be further from the truth. But it was all worthwhile, since most of the Easter break was spent being there for my family at a time when they needed me the most. My sister (on the left of the photograph above), suffered a stroke the week before Easter. At first we didn't think that it was a stroke. She was diagnosed with brain cancer 5 years ago you see, and we thought at first that the cancer had come back. She had been taking medication after her operation, but not regularly because she couldn't tolerate the taste. So we feared that her lack of self-discipline has finally reared its ugly head.
Luckily, it was indeed "just" a stroke, and a mild one at that. And even better news: her MRI results showed that her tumor was gone, and only scar tissue was left in its place. My sister beat cancer! Of course she should still take good care of herself moving forward and make sure that her cholesterol levels are within normal levels. But the tumor being completely gone, was indeed nothing short of a miracle. The most wonderful blessing we could ever hope for this Easter!
Learning that my sister is now cancer-free has brought a new joy to my heart, and, I guess, a renewed faith in God as well. I love my sister to pieces! She is my best friend and confidant ever since we were kids, and her cancer journey really broke me. She is a true warrior, and one of the strongest women I know (next to my mother of course) and I am glad that God stood with her all the way, and now she can stop worrying about cancer, and start focusing more on herself and her family.
