Getting back on track

Like this poor kitty cat hiding inside a beer box during new year's eve, I feel I have been in the same situation for over a year now. I feel I have created a box for myself where I up to now have remain hidden. I have done nothing else but work. I don't even have time to work out or take photo walks. And most important of all, I don't even find the time to sit down and write.

I am trying to change all of that now by making small changes, or, as I would like to call it, going shopping (hehehe).

I would like to call it shopping with a purpose. Having to work with Windows-based systems all day, the last thing I want to do is to look at another Windows computer when I get home. So I went ahead and made a rather hefty investment on a new Macbook Pro with a retina screen. It's quite refreshing to be back on a OS X-based computer, after now having used a Mac for almost two years.

And true enough, the Mac is simply a joy to use. I love how it looks, I love that when you turn it on you can just start to work right away, no need to fiddle with settings, install drivers, remove bloatware. No crashes. It's speedy. And that screen! Once you set your eyes on the Retina screen other, lower resolution screens just seem prehistoric. It was of course a big investment. Macs are getting more and more expensive over the years. But if I take good care of it I am sure it will serve me for quite a number of years.

So now I have the daunting task of writing about what has happened in the past months since I stopped blogging. Luckily I have continued to take photographs. I guess I have been quite unlucky with the camera investments I have made in the past few months. It's still a great camera and it takes great photographs, but I invested in an entry-level model a few months ago, and it proved difficult in more demanding photographic situations like when the light is low or when trying to photograph fireworks. So now, I am yet again back in the process of saving up for a new camera, although I am note really in a hurry with that. With my work, I only get very few changes to go out, travel, and take photographs.

I guess the most important thing is that the family is doing well. We've had our ups and downs but that is normal for any family. Rest assured I will try to take better care of myself, and find the time to keep fit, take pictures, and write. Writing keeps me sane. I know there are not a lot of people who read this. But I guess that wasn't the main reason why I put out this blog to start with.
