Oh The Agony!

I found another event where taking black and white pictures are actually preferred: the Oslo Marathon.

Cloudy skies, freezing rain and violent gusts of wind made for a very drab scene and Oslo was almost looked devoid of color. But the lack of vibrant hues was compensated for by the overflowing of emotion. The nitty-gritty, painful expressions of the men and women who braved the near-freezing temperatures of Oslo's streets to participate in this marathon. It was 42 kilometers of painful bliss. It commands respect!

But as for me, a day where there is time and opportunity to take pictures is a great day! Today I finally got a chance to see how "noisy" the Sony A77 can be with raw files at high ISO's. But they clean up pretty nicely. In this situation, however, the noise actually added to a more dramatic look, so I decided not to completely remove them. The 12fps burst really helped me in photographing the runners.

I hope the weather tomorrow will be better, then maybe I can take pictures of the autumn foliage. Now I plan to spend the rest of the day relaxing, staying warm and simply enjoying two quiet days without work.
