Time to get creative...again!
Due to the amount of work I had to do for most of the year I felt my creativity has reached a low point. Either my busy schedule prevented me from going out to take pictures, or the weather did.
But today I took time out from my busy schedule to take some pictures. I didn't go too far from my apartment. As part of me wanting to be more creative I decided to take up an aspect of photography which I have never tried before: macro. So after 2 days of reading about the best and most affordable lenses on the internet, I went ahead and purchased one. And I couldn't be happier.
I love tele lenses. I love getting close to what I am photographing and with my new macro lens I can get really close to very minute objects which I wasn't able to photograph before. Photographing them still isn't easy, but it becomes possible. Getting really close means I need to to step down the lens a lot to get so much more of the frame in focus, and this of course slows down the shutter speed and increases the ISO. I don't want to lug around a tripod yet so shots are still a hit and miss. But I have only spent a few hours with the lens so I am still learning!
Hopefully my new purchases will keep me motivated to go out and snap some shots whenever I have time to spare. In just a couple of weeks I will my workload will be back to normal and I will have time to go on my photo walks again. Purchases? No it wasn't a typo. I did purchase other things, but I will write more abou those tomorrow!
