The last day of summer (according to meteorologists)
Not surprisingly the sunniest days here in Norway came in August. Not a lot of them though. It has only been this week where we have experienced sunny days and warm temperatures. July has mostly been a wreck.
According to meteorologists today, the 19th of August 2012 would be the "last" day of summer that Norway would experience this year. The coming days and weeks ahead would be rainy. And if I am right, by the last week of August the autumn foliage will also start to show up.
Instead of joining the frenzied Oslo crowd in the beaches for their last chance to bathe in the sea, I instead opted to take a walk in the woods, this time from Movatn all the way to Skytta in Nittedal. Since it rained last night the forest paths have been washed out and my shoes got all muddy and wet!
The trip was worth it nonetheless. I was hoping to spot a moose on the way but I didn't. But it was nice to be (almost) all by myself in the woods, with lots of sunshine and fresh air. Definitely a great end to the weekend, and hopefully enough recharge before "hell week" at work starts tomorrow.
So once again we bid farewell to the summer. There was just way too much rainfall this year but I still had fun. But I am really in dire need of some serious sand, sun and sea now, so if my finances work out I just might be able to squeeze a one week hiatus somewhere in the Mediterranean!
