Outtakes 2013

I remember this photograph very well. This was taken on my way to the farewell dinner my colleagues were throwing for me one rainy summer evening in April. I was getting quite wet (I am not much of an umbrella person) and saw this dog looking miserable while waiting for his owner who probably went to have a beer somewhere.

It's a new year and once again it's time for new beginnings. I always start every year by archiving my Lightroom library from the year that was and start with a new one. It's a must for someone like me who averages five thousand or so pictures every year and I never really erase any of them. Everything is a keeper although I almost always only publish things which I know my friends and family would find interesting, or something interesting to write about in my blog.

Anyway, during the archiving process I always take a look at some of the photographs I have taken in the past and, lo and behold, after a few adjustments, I actually find other pictures which are actually worth posting.

And since I am a dog owner now I am finding the pictures I have taken of dogs, or dog owners with their dogs, rather interesting. It wasn't the dog that actually got my attention when I took this photograph, but the owner. Her shoes, stockings and pants are in a matching red colour which I thought was pretty cool. This photograph was taken on my last day in Norway while waiting for my good friend Renate for our final lunch date.

And speaking of lunch, I wasn't really attracted to this photograph of bamboo rice (available at the beautiful, but quite pricey Abe's Farm here in Magalang, Pampanga), until now. Note to self: it's actually a good idea to PP food pictures when you're a bit hungry.

My good friend, colleague, and brother from another mother, Jørn. Neither of us remember the things that transpired the evening I took this photograph. Lol.

A young girl in the traditional Norwegian costume, the bunad. Converting the picture to black and white reveals the beautiful and intricate patterns on her dress. This was taken on the 17th of May, the Norwegian independence day.

Rådhusgata in downtown Oslo. It wasn't a dreary day. But this was one of the last photographs of Oslo that I took so I was feeling sad that day. This is exactly how I would like to remember that  moment.

Obviously it was the final pictures I have taken in Norway that made the most impact. I have to say I really miss my hometown, although I know deep in my heart it is not yet time to go back. I just hope I get a job very soon so I can start to save up for a place ticket and visit my friends again.

And there you have it. The pictures I have taken in 2013 have been archived. I was fun looking at them. But I will probably not look at them again for some time so I can focus on my photography for this year. Too much nostalgia cannot possibly be good for you.

And new year's resolutions? Well I have lots of them. Get back in shape, drink more water, eat less meat, etc. But I know there is only one resolution that I will try with my whole heart to keep. And that is to take more pictures.
